So this morning I get to sleep until almost 9, was asleep probably by 9:30 p.m. last night. I woke up off and on through the night, which I always do when I am taking night quill. I got up, got Cycila all set up with her morning fruit loops and strawberry milk. Then I pulled out the fruits and veggies. I am not a person who has a lot of experience chopping produce; better yet doing it half asleep. It took me about 10 minutes to get the stuff cut up. I was aware that I needed to avoid chopping my finger. Turned out well not cuts or blood, whew! Okay so maybe I am not that bad, but that is how it felt this morning. Maybe just nerves.
Once I had all the fruit I went ahead and blended that all together because I am not sure how good my blender is yet, and I didn’t want to push it. It seems pretty awesome, no chunks in my smoothie. So the finished product, which I am still drinking isn’t awful, it’s actually pretty tasty, but I am thinking I needed to dilute it a bit more. It’s slow going and sorta heavy. I’m about half way finished with a pint and am already almost full. This could be because of the fact that I rarely even ate breakfast so my tummy is not happy because it isn’t use to anything but coffee in the mornings.
On an unhappy note, I don’t know if it is just water weight or what but I gained 4 pounds since I weighed last. That did not make me happy. It just goes to show that I really need to do this fast, make these healthy changes.
As I am typing I am still drinking. I haven’t figured out do I stop drinking if I am full and go back to it later or do I get down this pint? From what I have read people are drinking anywhere from 36-48 ounces of smoothies a day during a fast. I am working on 16 of those ounces now. But at another site I read you should drink 64 ounces. Does anyone know how much would be appropriate? All in all this isn’t a bad way to start the day. I already feel more awake, and usually that takes awhile. Since I haven’t drank caffeinated coffee in over 6 months my morning wake ups were slow. I am wide awake now so that’s a good sign. And yep I really need to dilute more. I can’t taste the spinach which is nice. I still used the recommended 2 cups.
The Recipe I look at was originally just Kiwi-Mint, but my hunni brought me home cantaloupe last night, and one was ready to go. I wouldn’t want to waste it. I love cantaloupe. So I just added cantaloupe to it as well. The recipe is as follows:
Kiwi-Mint and Cantaloupe Smoothie:
Original Recipe found here :
4 oz Kiwi, about 2 whole kiwis, peeled
1 Banana, used a medium sized
10 mint leaves
1 cup Cantaloupe
2 cups spinach
1/2 cup water
I probably should have used closer to a cup of water to make it thinner. But for the first smoothie I would say it was a success.
Well there is my morning to far. I haven’t gotten any huge amount of energy yet, but my mind feels a little clearer this morning compared to normal. Oh and clean-up was super easy and fast which is awesome.
